Allen Daniels: counselling for men

How I Work:

I want our sessions to be a place where you feel you can talk about anything, where you are welcomed and understood. I think of myself as an active and engaged therapist; and I work hard to connect, to understand and to clarify. I listen and observe closely and I share what I notice so you can see whether you think it fits.. At times I may challenge you, but always with the aim of trying to understand what’s getting in the way of you living a more satisfying life.

I don’t have all the answers, how could I? But what I bring is my experience and knowledge of the therapy process. How to help people explore what's going on for them, and - importantly -  how to create a space where change can happen.

People often describe therapy as a journey. To me, it feels more like growth. I may not know exactly what you’re growing into, but I do know how to support and feed that growth.

Starting Counselling:

It’s not unusual to feel unsure about reaching out to a counsellor.

Some people feel they should be coping better. Others aren’t quite sure how to put things into words, or worry about whether they’ll be understood. Feeling anxious about opening up is very common.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come.

Each week, I talk with men as they try to make sense of their doubts, frustrations, and the life events that have shaped them. Sometimes there’s laughter; sometimes there’s pain — sometimes both at once.

Therapy isn’t so much about talking about yourself as learning to listen to yourself — with someone else really listening too. That kind of listening is rare, and being on the receiving end of it can be quietly life-changing.

About Me:

I’ve lived and/or worked in the South West for over four decades, including in Bath and Bristol, and more recently in Trowbridge. Presently I live near Bath with my wife and our dog. I have two adult children.

I bring maturity, steadiness, and long experience to my work, and I’m deeply committed to offering therapy with integrity, patience, and the highest standard of care.

If any of this resonates and you're curious about working together, feel free to get in touch - I'd be glad to hear from you. I am based near Bath, BANES. I offer counselling for men across the surrounding area and online.
